Composition = Relationship

Hi, I'm Don Victor, and I teach artists composition.  At the AOC, to compose means you see and care for the visual relationships in a piece that makes the Art succeed.

Sadly, in most Art today, the relationships between the pictorial elements and principles are pulling the work apart. The consequence of an uncrafted composition is the public and artist are left feeling dissatisfied, hurt, angry, unpleased, ugly, uncertain and disconnected.

As the current stewards of Art's history, let us agree, Art that makes us feel like that is unacceptable. This is why I must teach composition. Seeing artists, like you, shine with confidence and smile with satisfaction knowing your Art is working and enriching, animates me daily.

Your growth as a composer is Art's Victory.

Don Victor will teach you composition, so you can stop copying still lives, landscapes or people's faces. Under his guidance, you will start composing what you perceive and genuinely feel. You will be taught to infuse spirit, soul, and life into your compositions of still life, landscapes, and portraits.

The Divine Function of the Artist

As artists, our divine function is to conjure or usher in an atmosphere thru our craft, that inspires and leads people into a higher awareness of beauty.  

For us beauty is a state of consciousness. It is a state of awareness. And what we are aware of is how complete and wonderful and lovely and special and amazing we are as God's creation. A creation he was well pleased with when he created it.

In Beauty we feel accepted and approved — as we are. In Beauty we see the very best features and functions of who we are. In Beauty we are at peace because we rest in the truth that we are pleasing to the one who created us.
